5 Quick and Easy Tasks That Will Get Your Home Ready for Sale in No Time Flat
If you're getting your house ready to sell, the tasks you need to do can be overwhelming. Of course you need to find a realtor and work out all sorts of details such as pricing, what date you will put your house up for sale, and much more. You also need to do various repair and remodeling projects. It can all get a bit taxing, but there is a set of tasks you can do in little time yet feel quite accomplished. Try out these five, and you will probably experience some added momentum along your getting-ready-to-sell path.
1. Shred Papers
Even if you have gotten a bit behind on shredding confidential papers such as ones containing your address, banking data, and other personal information, you can make a good dent in catching up by spending just 10 minutes here and there on shredding some piles of papers. After completing the task, immediately take the bags of shredded papers out to the trash bin.
2. Take Out the Trash (and Recycling)
Items of trash and recycling seem to multiply all on their own when you're not looking, and soon you have an excess of stuff that really just needs to head out your front door. Go from room to room, or focus on certain rooms if junk tends to accumulate there, and grab items to place in trash and recycling piles. If you have a lot of this stuff to haul out, break up this job into smaller segments of time. A little time spent here and there will quickly allow you to get this job under control.
3. Fling That Clutter
This task can be really liberating, and you might be surprised to discover how much stuff you have that you really don't need or want. Tackle one room or area of your home at a time, and grab items that you haven't used in a while or simply don't like anymore. Toss them into a "give away" box. When you've accumulated a decent amount of stuff, label it and take it to a local charity as a donation.
4. Pick a Drawer - Any Drawer
We all have drawers where we stash miscellaneous items. They might be in the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, or garage. In them are hiding all sorts of objects that often don't even need to be there. When you have just five or so minutes at a stretch, open one of these drawers and quickly sift through. Pick out and set aside items that you plan to discard. These might be broken things or ones that you don't need anymore. Then get rid of the stuff as soon as possible.
5. Clear the Counters
Your kitchen and bathroom counters may seem to attract clutter like magnets. Not to worry though, because you can clear out that messy-looking stuff in no time flat. Set a timer for about 15 minutes, or longer if you have more junk to clear, and put away or throw away items. Make it your goal to have your surfaces as clean and clutter-free as possible.
Your home will look so much neater, and you'll feel a weight lifting off you by completing some simple tasks like these. Set a timer for just 10 or 15 minutes, and you'll be pleasantly surprised at how much you can accomplish in a short time. You might just find these tasks to be fun and energizing. An added bonus is that your house will feel much more tidy and will look closer to being ready to go on the housing market.
