The Real Estate Agent Could Make Or Break a Sale

Many individuals that choose to go with a real estate agent do so because they feel comfortable with trusting an individual to handle their housing transfer.

For those looking to have a great experience should read the tips below. There are tips for both buyers and sellers.

If You are Selling Your Canadian Home

If you are selling your home you have the option to sell it on your own or hand off the responsibility to a real estate agent. If you would like to ensure that you are working with a reputable, responsible, and respectful real estate agent continue reading.

Ask To See A License

Real estate agents will be able to produce a real estate license that they can show you. There are also websites that will give you the information you need on the real estate agent that you would like to have represent you and sell your home. Still, ask to see their license and check to see what their reaction is. If you know for certain they are lying or are in bad standing, then move on. If you feel that they are not in bad standing, check to see how they react to your asking the question. It is important to get a feel for the reactions your agent will have for the duration of the selling process should you choose to work with them.

Ask If Their Fees Are Negotiable

Any great real estate agent with a respectful reputation will work with you. If they say that their fees are non-negotiable, then move on. It is unlikely that the sale of your home will be easy and go off without a hitch. If you choose to work with a real estate agent that isn’t willing to listen to you and work with you on fees, than you could safely assume that they will not be pleasant to work with should problems arise in the sale of your home.

If You Are Buying Your Canadian Dream Home

Ask For Their Credentials

Just as with selling a home, you want to make sure that the agent selling you the home is in good standing. You do not want to buy a home from a crooked or fraudulent salesman. This could put you in a lot of legal trouble. Ask to see their license and check online to make sure that they are who they say they are. If they have a positive well-known reputation, you know that the home you will be buying is just as it is advertised.

Ask About Inspections

Make sure that the home you are about to buy has been inspected. You do not want to fork out these costs on your own unless you absolutely have to. Check to see if there are any dated inspection reports available for your viewing should you want to see them. If there are no reports available, or the reports are outdated, ask if an inspection has been ordered for the home. If there are no reports available or schedule, ask to have one scheduled. Any agent that has nothing to hide will comply with little to no fuss regarding the request. Do not intentionally put yourself in a bad situation that you cannot afford to work your way out of.
